Why am I not inspired every day?
There’s something I’ve always been curious about—what inspires people? What lights that fire? What makes someone want to create, to change, to go all in?
The other day, I turned that question back on myself and asked: What actually inspires me? And when I really sat with it, a few clear things came up—my environment, music, and the people I surround myself with.
Pretty simple. And honestly, for the most part, I do have control over all three.
I can choose the space I spend time in—whether that’s by the ocean, in nature, or just somewhere quiet and uncluttered.
I can choose the music I let in—what I play when I wake up, when I work, when I move through the day. I know how deeply music shifts my mood and focus.
And I can choose who I spend time with. People who energize me. Who are doing meaningful things, who are honest, who remind me of what matters.
So with that in mind, here’s the real question that hit me:
Why am I not inspired every day?
Why are there days where everything feels flat, where I’m just going through the motions, where I feel stuck?
The answer, I think, is that even though I can choose my environment, music, and relationships—I don’t always do it intentionally.
Some days I’m too distracted to notice I’ve drifted out of alignment.
Some days I settle. Some days I just let autopilot take over.
And that’s okay. That’s human.
But what I’m realizing as I write this is that inspiration isn’t just some magical force that shows up when it feels like it. It’s something I can nurture—something I have to actively protect and create space for.
This post is really a reminder to myself to do exactly that.
To be more aware of the spaces I enter. To choose music that lifts me up, slows me down, or matches what I need in that moment.
To spend time with people who bring out the real me, not the version I think I’m supposed to be. Because life’s too short to coast in a state of “fine.”
I don’t want to live in mediocrity. I don’t want to just “get through” the day. I want to stay lit up. In flow. In tune with the things that make me feel alive.
Inspiration isn’t random. It’s built—through the small, intentional choices we make every single day.
I would love to hear what inspires you! Comment below ; )
