Chasing Feelings

For me, photography has never been about proving anything. It’s never been about being the best. It’s never been about building a perfect portfolio or speaking the tech language. It’s been about paying attention. About noticing what makes me feel alive. About capturing the small moments that remind me there’s still beauty here, even when life feels messy.

Waves do that for me.

There’s something about standing on the shore and watching the ocean that resets my nervous system. The flow, the power, the unpredictability. It’s something I can’t fully explain.

When I photograph waves and surf, I’m not chasing perfection. I’m chasing a feeling. The way light reflects on the water. A surfer getting barreled, even if it’s a quick cover up. Spray coming off a wave on an off shore day. Those moments slow me down. They make me pause. They pull me out of my head and bring a sense of peace that can only be replicated when I am surfing.

Sometimes I think I take photos because I’m trying to hold onto something that’s already slipping away. But as I reflect back, I think I take photos because it helps me practice being present. It’s my way of saying, “I’m here. I saw this. This mattered to me.”

This post is simple. It’s just a small collection of moments from the ocean that helped me feel a little more like myself. If you’re reading this and you’re going through your own hard season, I hope these images give you a breath too. A pause. A reminder that beauty still shows up. Sometimes quietly. Sometimes in the shape of a wave.

Thanks for being here. Really.
