Photographer Bio
Arun Frances was raised near the seaside coast of California, and
he has always participated in and been surrounded by action sports. He began
competing at the age of 12, and extreme sports have been his passion from the
very start. He was greatly influenced by his older brother and some close friends
who were early inspirations in both surfing and wakeboarding.
In 2000, after spending several months away from his favorite sports due
to a knee injury, his desire to be near the action grew immensely. He quickly
identified a route by which he could be near the water and help others enjoy
their experiences more thoroughly. No stranger to photography, as was the subject
of photographers from an early age, he began heading to events with a camera
in hand, and he soon began to capture timeless moments of people enjoying themselves
at what they do best.
As his photographs began to be published in magazines and newspapers, he realized
that there was a strong need for people’s experiences to be documented
and enjoyed by their peers. The photographs naturally followed his “sixth” sense
to grab hold of a lifestyle through his lens and portray an almost surreal image.
